If you Play It By Ear, you don’t plan ahead but you do whatever seems best at the time depending on the situation.

McQUEEN – Alexander Mcqueen’s documentary

The Eagerly Anticipated, Alexander McQueen was released in June 2018 (McQueen (2018) – IMDb, 2020). The documentary teases to focuses around the early beginnings of McQueen; exploring behind the scenes footage, moving interviews with friends and families, spellbinding show footage and personal home videos. Eventually depicting the final few years of the designer’s life, including his subsequent suicide. Movie course has a dark, chilling element to it, which explores how the troubled and tortured mind of McQueen worked. McQueen discuss the immense pressures of his work, which saw him harnessing his inner demons to create fourteen fashion collections a year. The untimely end to McQueen’s life 8 years ago provides an eerie overcast throughout.

Reflection:

It was a difficult decision for me to recommend you this movie. It has a dark as well as bright side of it. Alexander Mcqueen was different and that’s why he once said the system is against me and that was what I was having in my mind that how people who have never seen it will take it or react to it. I hope you will enjoy and stay tuned foe the next week activities and articles.

Work Activities:

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend despite of the lockdown in London. Fifth week in a PIBE Magazine was all about brands. Team was on to the stockists side for the magazine. For those who don’t know it is having all the information about the brands and its products or services which were used or linked with the magazine during the work. It is usually the last page of magazine and its shows minimum information on the magazine but at back it contains too much information. This was the activity of this week.

Reflection:

This week was very much easy as compared to previous one’s. The work was less and easy to do. This was easy because i have done this work back in my thesis days when i was preparing for my thesis display at university. Nothing much was for this week regarding work but I have interested article for the week about my one of favorite fashion designer Alexander McQUEEN. Stay tuned for the article.

Work Activities:

Fourth week in a PIBE Magazine was different as i told you all last week that we we will be working on artists hunting or featuring this week. The aim was to hunt for the best artists that are doing something creative, unique, modern and fresh and ideally they must have a large amount of followers. This was pretty difficult and different. I did my research through out the week and it was very deep research having every kind of artist in it. I came across many unbelievable works or projects of people who were not very much famous. Now days creativity is on next level. This was the activity of this week.

Reflection:

This week was very intense as I was not aware of this kind of research where I had to hunt for artists. I had to go through almost every gallery, museums and other websites and blogs, not to forget the social media as well. The main hard thing was to finalize the best of best artists. In the article of the week I will share few artists names and categories they are famous for so stay tuned.

Face Illussion ArtistDAIN YOON

Dain Yoon who is 26 years old, she’s an “illusion artist” who uses her face as canvas and makes illusions which is unique than other people. After seeing her we can say, “she’s art”. She had training at art school in Seoul, Korea. She has also collaborated with brands including Apple and BMW, appeared on Ellen show, has her own Snapchat lens and has choreographed performance art. In 2017, she created miniature versions of herself on her own nails, using her own hair.

“I believe everything is or can be an illusion,” (Dain Yoon, 2020).

She lives in Los Angeles, California. She can transform herself with makeup and other materials. The result is mind-boggling, and it is often difficult to find Yoon’s actual face within the art she has created on top of it. She has a massive fan following with 623k followers on Instagram. Hopefully, you all liked the article and we all should see and admire her work.

Reflection:

As I started researching for the next (4th week) for creative and unique artists. I came across Dain Yoon in the list of artists which were featured in PIBE before. Her work was so unique and creative not everyone can imagine of. I chose her for the article of the week for my internship work because I was unable to stop myself to share her work and let you guys tell about her. She has done amazing work and I learned a lot of things from her that a person is an artist but you just have to discover yourself.

Stay tuned for the more artists works in the next week.

Lastly, we discussed about coming weeks tasks and projects. Next week we will be working on research side of magazine and artists hunting from different fields.

Reflection:

This week comes to an end with same but more tasks about stories credits and print side of the magazine. This week was not difficult but hectic because I was comfortable doing these tasks from the previous week. We had a call briefing session like previous week with some new added things and changes to do. Interaction with the team about various projects and ideas helped me to think better and work better. Lastly, week was very busy with lots of tasks and as usual I learned many things from the experience throughout the week.

Chanel N°5 – An Iconic Fragrance

Second week article is about the very famous and iconic brand’s perfume which is Chanel No.5. It was created in 1921 since then it is carrying own legacy. In this article you will see few things you all should know about this beauty. It was a fashionable collaboration and a visionary composition. Ernest Beaux perfumer created the Chanel No.5 the scent was born out of Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel’s ‘reminiscence’ of her lost love for Arthur Capel, who died in 1919. This ‘perfume of eternity’ was her personal gift to herself. It was the 5th sample which was selected by French couturier Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel that we all love today and the rest is fragrance history. Chanel collections are always filled with pure love and uniqueness. The brand’s collection is filled with love and passion. In 1937, Mademoiselle appointed herself ambassador for No. 5; when asked what she wore to bed, Marilyn Monroe famously declared “Why, Chanel No. 5, of course!” (The 5 Secrets of Chanel No. 5, 2020).

Reflection:

Getting deep into the Chanel No.5 and reading the different articles from different sources I realized that few of basic backgrounds points or history is not known to most of the people so I gathered the information by reading different articles from magazines, blogs, social media post and interviews etc. Working on it I realize that I am giving most of the information which people have already read and it will not be pleasant to the eyes to read the same things again and again. So, challenge was to give some basic background overview of the iconic fragrance and I hope you will like it.

Stay tuned for the working activities and articles about the internship with PIBE Magazine.

Work Activity:

Second week at PIBE Magazine was interesting with new tasks to do. This week we started on the print side of the magazine and started with creating credits for the different stories of magazine. Creating credits is giving information with each part of the content for the contribution of individual or brand. Credits for the stories are very important part of the magazine as this is the thing people see after watching the content. It was so informative and attracting as I came across many famous artists, photographers, models, stylists and companies/brands while working on credits. As in the last week’s article as I told you guys in the coming weeks we will be working on credit stories and print side of the magazine and lastly we also discussed the coming week tasks and projects.

Reflection:

Second week comes to an end with many challenging tasks regarding credits and print side of the magazines. Biggest problem popped was too much content and data and handling it carefully was a challenge. I had a long call briefing regarding doing the credit stories and how to handle the complexity. Interaction with editor made me confidently handling the work with ease. Call briefing session not only boosted my confidence but also removed the fear I had in my mind. It was a week with lots of work and great learning.

Linking to this magazine was a great offer to learn and grow. I have written a brief introduction of the magazine as a first article to absorb the vibe it gives you. It is difficult to portray something and keeping it in mind I have done deep research on the magazine and its characteristics to give you all an idea of what exactly PIBE is. It covers fashion, beauty, and art and the main aim is to work with best in the international industry whether they photographers, models, stylists, hair or makeup artists. Work Activities

First week started off with introduction of the magazine and it works. Many tasks were there to work on from print issues to social media tasks, publishing to research and writing articles to credits. A lot more were there but I was asked to start with research work. Task was to find the competitors and to analyze them to get ideas for magazine content. Other tasks were to analyze and suggest how often should PIBE Magazine should post and what hashtags to use. Previous Magazines were given to have an idea of the PIBE and for the research what content works best for them. I learned a lot in my research and gave me an idea of the insights on fashion magazines. Overall work experience was easy as well as hard at the same time and tasks were difficult and to learn from.

Reflection

Starting with research work it was difficult to understand the pillars on which PIBE Magazine works so I thoroughly researched the previous issues and received the guidelines from the editor of the magazine to get myself comfortable in working and surround myself in that particular  bubble. I was having some confusion and I discussed it with my mentor at the magazine and he cleared my confusion regarding the issues and I got good and positive feedback of my work and I was told that we will work print side of magazine in the next week. I can say, I could have done the research on competitors better by filtering the competitors according to the PIBE and I have to work on my writing to make it better. Most of the tasks and material given to me was asked to keep confidential between me and the organization only. So, there is not much information I am sharing but surely you will have an idea of work tasks and other things on working with the fashion magazine. Stay tuned for the next blog.
