Article- At the PIBE

I’m glad I got the opportunity to work at the PIBE as an intern. As this was the last week for the term or semester I am sharing my experience at PIBE. To be honest I was looking for an opportunity which is new to me and had no experience of it as it will enhance my skills and push me to the maximum level to learn and master. Started the week and learned firstly about the professional life and and work environment. I’ve shared my work activities in my previous blogs so I will tell you what I’ve achieved and learned from it. I have background of Fashion & Textile designing and I was capable of many different skills but applying all those at PIBE made me an artistic and creative individual. Now, I’m well versed in Adobe photoshop, basic video editing and other graphic software. Research part of the job was hardest after training, guidance and practice I have a sense of curiosity, flare for research and I can easily carry forward the PIBE aesthetic in their work. I will recommend every fresh graduate or post graduate to work in such a environment where they can be pushed to their maximum and master it all.

Reflection:

Working at the PIBE was great learning experience for me as I’ve learned many new aspects for the same things which I have done in past. I’ve done very kind of work at the PIBE from the research work, stockists, credit stories, content creating, designing, articles, artists featuring to the PR, marketing, promotions and publishing. The thing is to master the tasks you once do and enhance your portfolio/profile and by this you can be end up doing anything the company wants from you. Overall, it was hard at the first doing work during sleepless nights but by the time when you learn it and master it then it becomes very easy for you. At the end of the semester I got the over-whelming feedback from my boss which is a good sign for me to do a lot better in future.

Internship @PIBE Magazine Week 10 (Dec 7 to Dec 13)

If you Play It By Ear, you don’t plan ahead but you do whatever seems best at the time depending on the situation.

Work Activities:

Tenth week was the last week before the winter vacations and the fall semester. This week we were given rest after the successful launch of the PIBE Magazine Issue#11. This week we had not any kind of work beside going to some brands and agencies to have meeting about the magazine. I’ll go through the start when I started to work on social media strategies and handling of the magazine. After that I was assigned to create new ideas for the magazine and I was also asked for the research of the content and the articles. Furthermore, I was given to sort out the data and create credit stories for the magazine along with the stockists. Not to forget artist featuring was the most difficult and interesting task for the magazine. Lastly, after the launch we were asked to do work for PR, marketing and promotions.

Reflection:

Semester is finished and all went pretty good with many learning aspects. When I started it was difficult to understand the circle in which the PIBE magazine works and operate. After guidance and and training I was on the track and the company was pretty much happy with me. Many tasks were new to me because I haven’t work for the magazine before while many tasks were easy for me because I am from the Fashion& Textile Designing background I was familiar with many things which helped me a lot. After finishing the work and when the new issue was launch I met many big brands and agencies during the last two weeks all over the London, received positive and over-whelming feedback and discussed about the future objectives. This was the main important thing for me as I and other team members worked very hard for this.

Artists Of The Week

Qimmy Shimmy(Sculpture Artist)

If you see her work there is something incredibly disarming about Qixuan Lim’s (aka Qimmy Shimmy) macabre sculptures. They provoke an array of emotions from viewers ranging from delight, admiration, horror, to repulsion. Some recoil with horror upon seeing her works, while others marvel at the artistry involved. Qimmy Shimmy works can be categorized under the “creepy cute” art genre but unlike other creepy-cute works I’ve seen, her works have been known to stir some controversy.

Dan Tanenbaum(Creative Art)

He is a watch addict. Watches were the first thing he started collecting 20 years ago. According to him watches, especially vintage ones, were actually little works of art. He lives and works in Toronto. His work with watch parts began in 2010, when he started sculpting miniature motorcycles. Since then, his unique works have been featured in Ultimate Motorcycling Magazine and Motorcycle Mojo Magazine.

Aziz Al-Duwisan(Photographer)

Aziz Al-Duwisan aka Bonmr is an incredibly mind blowing photographer with amazing editing and retouching skills. If you see his work you will see unique perspective of the things he captures unlike we daily observe.

Reflection:

Above mentioned artists are the proof that there is no end to talent in this universe. You will see the great examples of hard work and efforts which they have put in their work by having a look at the references. Artist Selection is always a difficult job to do but i have worked hard to show you guys again some of the best pieces of work. I have attached Instagram profile links in the reference along with their works. Stay tuned for the next week and upcoming new edition of the PIBE Magazine.

Internship @PIBE Magazine Week 8 (Nov 23 to Nov 29)

If you Play It By Ear, you don’t plan ahead but you do whatever seems best at the time depending on the situation.

Work Activities:

It feels like yesterday but we have come to the end of 8th week so far. Last two eeks were busy regarding the new upcoming edition of PIBE Magazine but there was not enough work to do other than what we already have done and we are waiting for the release. Same like the past two weeks we focused on more and more on artist featuring or research with unique talent and skills related to fashion, beauty and art. As much as we research and do hard work for our content it will be good for all of you guys to worth read. New edition of the magazine is right across the line and soon it will be published and available for all of you in print as well as digital version.

Reflection:

By reading the term artist featuring or research it may seems to be very easy to all of you but we have to see a lot of details and there is criteria to select some artist and that criteria is very difficult to be fulfilled. That’s why it take time and we do more and more work as much as we can. In the article of the week are interesting artists to show some sneak peak of them. Stay tuned for the article.

Rashid Rana – Visual Artist

Rashid Rana is widely considered to be the leading Pakistani artist of his generation and it’s a proud moment for me because he is from my country. Rashid Rana was born in Lahore, Pakistan in 1968 where he lives and works. He trained as a painter at the National College of Arts in Lahore, Pakistan and at the Massachusetts College of Fine Arts in Boston, USA. He is the founding faculty member and head of the Fine Art department at Beaconhouse National University in Lahore, Pakistan. He first came to prominence in South Asia alongside artists such as Subodh Gupta, before gaining wider, international exposure after the millennium. In his photography, sculpture and digital printmaking, Rana transposes imagery from one time and place to another, through manipulation, repetition and rearrangement. His early photomontages – originally made by painstakingly reconfiguring tiny squares of imagery into micro-mosaics by hand, latterly by using computer software – superimposed hardcore pornography on to the silhouette of the burqa (Veil, 2004) and turned hundreds of graphic slaughterhouse snapshots into facsimiles of Persian rugs (Red Carpet, 2007). Solo exhibitions include Leila Heller Gallery, Dubai, UAE (2017); Saatchi Gallery, London, UK (2010) and The Asia Society, New York, USA (2009). I hope you like the article and for sure you will like his work.

Reflection:

Sharing one of the best artist to be feature is the difficult job as it should be some extraordinary work. It was not a difficult decision at all to choose tis artist to feature it for you all because what he has done in the industry there are rarely few others. I have attached his Instagram profile link in the reference along with his some work.

Internship @PIBE Magazine Week 7 (Nov 16 to Nov 22)

If you Play It By Ear, you don’t plan ahead but you do whatever seems best at the time depending on the situation.

Work Activities:

Started this week after the magazine shoot with the same work activities from the previous weeks to continue this week. Stockists and artist featuring were the activities of this week. Coming in the seventh week and doing this stuff was easy as compared to others. As the weeks are passing the new edition of the magazine is right across the line and soon it will be published and available for all of you to get amazed by the content.

Reflection:

Easy start to the week with same tasks but with more detail and you can say quantity. It was not difficult at all for me to do this. Every week you expect some new activities to be done but things happens like again on some previous task or to continue task because all the things have to be in the pipeline that’s why they are done parallel. In the article of the week is one of the interesting artist I would like to share with you. Stay tuned for the article.

Fashion Art Beauty- Covid-19 and Lockdown

This week’s article is not about anything other than corona virus and work. In this article i will share the experience of working in a fashion, art and beauty sector. I recently did a fashion shoot for the PIBE magazine with their team. So main things which were had to be look after were safety along with our planned stuff. We had to work in a short team having only one person from each department to carry on the activities. It all ended well with the safety instructions. Wait for the next edition of the PIBE Magazine to see the amazing content. It wasn’t easy to work whole day with so many safety instruction and all other stuff to do. We all can end this and we will soon.

Reflection:

Talking about the pandemic it’s very difficult to continue our work activities because cases are rising again and many people don’t care about it and doesn’t follow the safety instructions so we have to make sure we do care about us and others around us. I was afraid to be honest because of the virus but thanks to the PIBE Magazine to arrange and done it in a wonderful way. After the i was conscious about my health but nothing happened afterwards. It was a new experience working in a different environment because we were working from home before during the virus. Stay tuned for the next week.

Internship @PIBE Magazine Week 6 (Nov 9 to Nov 15)

If you Play It By Ear, you don’t plan ahead but you do whatever seems best at the time depending on the situation.

Work Activities:

By the starting of the week 6 we were hoping for a photoshoot but the date was not confirmed yet. Date confirmed for the shoot and we started preparing for the shoot. Collecting and compiling all the research we did for the magazine to be featured. All the information about the shoot was confidential and private and we were not allowed to share any information so I can’t share it with you guys but wait for the next PIBE Magazine and you will love the content.

Reflection:

Once I got the text from the editor that we are having a shoot this coming week. I was very much excited about it but at the same time I was kind of worried because it was a new experience for me. I was asked to do some major activities and Thank God it all ended super cool and amazing. Stay tuned for the next week activities and article.
